OSC imports your product as the importer of record: the import declaration, the Korean label, customs clearance, and storage at the right temperature.

Our imported food business is registered with MFDS (No. 20240002249). Once your stock is in Korea, we can sell it on Coupang and Naver too.

What an importer of recorddoes in Korea.

Korea asks a registered Korean business to answer for an imported product. When OSC is your importer of record, that business is us, so you don't need a company of your own in Korea.

ROLE 01

Holds the registration

Korean law requires an imported food business to register with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS). Ours has been registered since February 2024.

ROLE 02

Declares every shipment

Each shipment is declared to MFDS before customs clearance, in the importer's name.

ROLE 03

Puts the Korean label on

The Korean label is part of the declaration, usually a sticker on your current pack.

ROLE 04

Answers for the product

Customer questions, records, and contact with the authorities, handled in Korean.

Korea customs clearance,step by step.

This is the path for food and health supplements, the products we import under our own registration. A product imported for the first time is tested in a laboratory, so the first shipment takes longer than the ones after it.

Questions aboutimporting to Korea

FAQ
  • Yes, through a Korean importer of record. The importer holds the registrations and files the import declaration in its own name. With OSC, that is us, and in most of our contracts the stock stays yours.

  • It registers the import business with MFDS, declares each shipment, makes sure the Korean label is on the product, and answers for the product in Korea.

  • The first shipment of a product takes longest, because it is tested in a laboratory. In a typical plan the Korean label is ready about two weeks after your files arrive, and stock is in Korea around week four. We give you a date for each product before you ship.

  • Usually not. Imported food that is already sold in your country can keep its original labeling and add a Korean sticker, as long as the sticker stays attached and doesn't cover the original product name or date marks.

  • Food, health supplements, and food-contact products go under our own import registration. Categories that need a separate Korean license, such as cosmetics, go through a licensed partner we name in the contract.

  • Yes. We keep ambient and refrigerated stock in Korea and ship it to customers nationwide. The Japanese natto we import is kept in cold storage.

  • Yes. We open and run your Coupang and Naver stores. Most brands come to us for that reason: the import is planned around the sale, so the label and the product page say the same thing.
